Bounty and Cuteness

We have been harvesting lots from the garden, tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, some greens, green beans, parsley, tomatillos. On Monday Heather, Michael and I picked pears off the last three pear trees here to be picked, we have also been getting fruit from friends with lots of trees, and picking grapes and apples here. And yesterday we harvested one of the winter squash patches, not the large one, nor the small one, and got a wheel barrow full or so. We harvested it because the bit of frost the other night killed the plants, I am not sure why those ones died and the other patches didn't. It was an early frost and only frosted in a few places.

We are canning and drying some crops, fruit, tomatoes, tomatillos, and making pickles.

The turkeys are devouring lots of the garden, kale, other greens, seeds we tried to plant, baby plants for the fall garden, but there is still food out there. We have been putting bird netting over some plants. We did manage to get a nice bed of beets to come up and as of now they are still not a favorite turkey food. May it stay that way. But there were lots of weeds, we have weeded them twice in the last two weeks.

The goats will be leaving next week but as of now we have tons of goat cheese.

And now for the cute segment of this post.

There is this one squirrel that lives in the pine tree in front of Strawberry House. It likes to throw things down on us while we work. It just missed Anastasia twice Wednesday, they seem to throw short. It eats really fast and then runs around really fast, maybe to work off all those calories.

We had some visiting little kids who liked the mud pit, they helped us mix it up right after we added more dirt and water.
