Composting Toilets

Perhaps not the most glamorous of subjects, but the composting toilets here are quite beautiful. Three very different buildings, one even has running water and a sink for hand washing.

I feel I have not described the basics enough, mostly I seem to focus on work and changes, but not daily life. So I decided to go very basic.

In top down order: The Honey House is near the common house, Daisy is in the shady garden, and the Sunny Dunny is on the sunny side between the garden and Madrone and Strawberry houses.

The Sunny Dunny was a project of the 2005 apprentices, they decided to do a group project and chose to create a composting toilet on the sunny side, feeling it was much needed, the residents agreed. It is quite beautiful, earth and wood walls, a shake roof, a beautiful view.
